Almost 4 thousand people remained in Bucha, the mayor said that residents can return in about a week

In a week, refugees from Bucha, Kyiv region, may be allowed to return home

Mayor Anatoliy Fedoruk said this on the air of the telethon, Ukrinform reports.

He called on workers in those areas that ensure the life of the city to return already.

"Doctors, public utilities workers and those who ensured the life of the city can return. There are agreements with the Armed Forces to give them a corridor. I hope that in a week we will give the opportunity to slowly return (to all residents - ed.)", Fedoruk said.

He said that active work is underway to clear mines and establish all communications.

"We are working on restoring electricity and gas supply. 60% of the internal power grid has survived, and there is hope, as soon as the main power supply is provided, we can provide light for the territorial society", Fedoruk said.

He assured the owners of apartment buildings that suffered from shelling they are reliably protected against looting.

"I can assure the owners of apartment buildings that the National Police, the Territorial Defense Battalion, both Bucha and Territorial Defense, provide constant patrols to prevent looting", the mayor of Bucha emphasized.

According to Fedoruk, there are 3,700 people who survived the occupation in Bucha.
