Allies are afraid to raise stakes, and Putin is exploiting their weakness - Klimkin
Ukraine’s former Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin emphasized that Ukraine has already learned not to be afraid of Putin and called on others to follow the lead
He expressed this opinion on the air of the "Verdict with Serhiy Rudenko" program on the Espreso TV channel.
"Allies are still afraid of Putin. They are afraid that, driven into a dead end, Putin will start an escalation, perhaps a nuclear escalation. They are wary of raising the stakes so that an uncontrolled process does not begin in Russia. Of course, not everyone is afraid of him, there is also a tendency in the West to see Putin in a way, as he is," Klimkin said.
According to the diplomat, the allies do not want the conflict to go beyond the borders of Ukraine, and this is a weakness.
"Putin makes good use of weakness. Partners have not yet supplied Ukraine with many important types of weapons - long-range missiles, drones, aircraft, armored vehicles. Yes, we have support, but the desire to move to the next stage requires difficult, painful discussions in the West. Europe must work on mistakes, and then they will stop being afraid of Putin," Klimkin emphasized.
