Aircraft, helicopter, tanks and 630 soldiers: Russian losses per day of war in Ukraine

General Staff's report: Ukrainian defense forces repelled Russian attacks in 5 directions, about 80 clashes took place at the front

Ukraine’s General Staff reports.

In the area of responsibility of the North operational-strategic group, near the border with Belarus, the operational situation remains without significant changes.

In the northeastern border area, the Russian army maintains a military presence, carries out active sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to critical frontline areas, and increases the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.

In the area of responsibility of the Khortytsia operational-strategic group in the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled over 15 Russian attacks near 3 settlements in Kharkiv region, as well as over 10 attacks near Nadiya in Luhansk region.

In the Lyman direction, Ukraine’s defense forces repulsed 5 Russian attacks near Makiivka, Luhansk region.

In the Bakhmut direction, the Russian troops unsuccessfully tried to regain the lost position near Klishchiivka, Donetsk region. Ukrainian defense forces continue assault operations south of Bakhmut in Donetsk region, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the Russian enemy, and consolidating their positions.

In the area of responsibility of the Tavria operational-strategic group in the Avdiivka direction, the Russian invaders keep trying to encircle Avdiivka with the help of aviation. Ukraine's soldiers repelled three attacks. Russia's offensive in the areas of Novokalynove and Pervomayske in the Donetsk region was also unsuccessful.

In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 17 Russian attacks in the area of Marinka and another 4 in the area of Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, Ukrainian troops repelled hostile attacks near Novomayorsk, Donetsk region.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Ukraine's fighters are holding back the invaders in the areas of Novodarivka and east of Mala Tokmachka in Zaporizhzhia region.

In the area of responsibility of the Odesa operational-strategic group in the Kherson direction, the Defense Forces continue its counter-battery combat, inflicting fire damage on Russia's rear.

The Ukrainian troops are carrying out an offensive in the Melitopol direction. They have partial success southwest of Verbove, Zaporizhzhia region, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces, depleting them along the entire front line.

Russian army launched 15 missile and 79 air strikes on the Ukrainian territory

About 80 combat clashes took place over the past day.

In total, the Russian Federation launched 15 missile and 79 air strikes, fired 61 times from multiple launch rocket systems at the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas. Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population. A five-story residential building, 2 churches, a cultural center, a sports complex, more than 20 private houses and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

Air strikes targeted 1 locality in Kharkiv region, 3 in Luhansk region, 10 in Donetsk region, 1 in Zaporizhzhia region, and 5 in Kherson region.

About 130 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions came under artillery fire.

Ukraine’s army destroyed 2 control points and Russia's Tor anti-aircraft missile system

During the day, the aviation of the Ukrainian forces carried out 15 strikes on the areas of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment concentration and 3 strikes on their anti-aircraft missile systems. Ukrainian defenders also destroyed a Russian Su-25 aircraft and 5 tactical reconnaissance UAVs.

Missile troops hit 2 control points, the Tor anti-aircraft missile system, the Zoopark-1M radar station and 11 Russian artillery units.

• The Institute for the Study of War said that units of two Ukrainian marine brigades probably crossed the Dnipro River on October 17-18 and landed on the left bank of the river in Kherson region.
