Air Force comments on shooting down Ukrainian Bayraktar over Kyiv
Currently, experts are establishing why there was a technical failure in the operation of the Turkish Bayraktar drone, which was shot down over Kyiv on the evening of May 4
This was reported by the spokesman for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Ihnat, on the Kyiv TV channel.
According to Ihnat, it is not yet known why Bayraktar lost control. However, the reasons for the failure are being investigated.
"The fact that there may be some technical problem, what it is connected with, is being investigated by experts, it is obvious what can happen. Bayraktar is a large drone, it became unmanageable, and had to be destroyed. It was decided to use weapons from mobile fire groups, and to destroy it with small air defence systems. This is an emergency situation, but we will not make a tragedy out of it," said the Air Force spokesman.
He noted that Bayraktar drones are widely used in Turkey not only by the military, but also by the police, border guards and customs. Ukraine will not stop using these drones after yesterday's incident.
