Anti-aircraft missiles for various air defense systems are vital for Ukraine because of Russia's constant attacks on critical infrastructure. Recently, the White House announced a decision to prioritize Ukraine's acquisition of anti-aircraft missiles for the Patriot and AIM-120

It's important to know about the types and numbers of anti-aircraft missiles Ukraine received since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, Defense Express reports.

The Jamestown Foundation, an American research institution, has estimated these numbers, which are approximate but provide a useful starting point.

The authors cite figures based on SIPRI data, which may be inaccurate due to the secrecy of the supply of necessary goods to Ukraine.

  • 1800 missiles for the Starstreak

  • 1000 missiles for the Piorun

  • 800 missiles for the FIM-92 Stinger

  • 365 PAC-2 missiles for the Patriot

  • 100 Aster 30 missiles for the SAMP/T

  • 125 missiles for the MIM-23 Hawk

  • 100 missiles each for Igla and Crotale MANPADS

  • 25 missiles for RBS-70

  • 175 missiles for Mistral complexes

  • 100 missiles for Aspide complex

  • 150 3M9 missiles for the Kub SAM

  • 45 5V55 missiles for the S-300

The list does not include certain types of anti-aircraft missiles whose delivery to Ukraine has been directly confirmed by open sources. These include AIM-120 and AIM-9X missiles for NASAMS systems, AIM-7 missiles for modernized Buk systems under the FrankenSAM project, and AIM-132 ASRAAM missiles for an improvised air defense system from the United Kingdom.

The authors of the Jamestown Foundation aimed to show a general trend: Western countries should increase their supply of air defense equipment and ammunition to bolster Ukrainian air defenses and prevent depletion.
