He told Radio Zet about this.
Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized that Warsaw had provided Kyiv with "as much equipment as it could," but its own security remained a priority.
"For example, the MIG-29 - they patrol the Polish sky, they serve Polish pilots. I cannot say that I agree with the transfer of the aircraft. There is no consent on my part," he said.
According to the Polish Defense Minister, he is “trying his best to keep the interest in the Ukrainian case alive.” At the same time, he emphasized that Poland is not a “party to the conflict.”
- On May 8, 2023, Poland transferred 10 MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine.
- On July 19, 2024, Ukraine's Ambassador to Poland Vasyl Zvarych said that Warsaw could transfer all of its MiG-29 fighters to Kyiv.
- Later that month, former Polish National Defense Minister Janusz Onyszkiewicz said that Polish MiG-29s could appear in Ukraine in about six months, but that it would depend on the timing of their replacement with new American F-35s.
- In late October, a Polish Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that the government must first guarantee the security of its citizens and territory, so Ukraine will receive the remaining MiGs when Warsaw receives replacements from its allies.
