Ukraine's Minister of Environmental Protection Svitlana Hrynchuk reported the information.

The European Commission will provide €25 million, France €10.6 million, and the United Kingdom €6.9 million.

Additionally, Grant Agreement No. 5 provides another €5 million for damage assessment and temporary repairs to the arch.

Minister of Environmental Protection Svitlana Hrynchuk stated that €400,000 has already been allocated for damage assessment and noted that the funds in the Account may not be sufficient, making international support extremely important. She thanked partners for their assistance to Ukraine in the field of nuclear safety, especially after the incident at ChNPP in February 2025.

“For us, this is further evidence that Ukraine is not left alone with its challenges, but has reliable friends. We are grateful to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for its systematic support of Ukraine and deep expertise, to all the countries contributing to the Account, the IAEA, and other representatives of the international community for their help from the first day of the full-scale war, for their quick response and support after the incident at the Chornobyl NPP in February this year, and for their attention to the current state of the New Safe Confinement. Only through joint efforts can we ensure nuclear safety not only for Ukraine but also for other European countries,” Hrynchuk said.

  • On the night of February 14, a Russian UAV with a high-explosive warhead struck the shelter of the 4th power unit of the Chornobyl NPP, causing significant damage. The next day, Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrii Sybiha, met with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi to discuss the incident at the Chornobyl NPP, and the Ministry of Energy called on the IAEA to step up efforts to prevent attacks on nuclear facilities.
