Slovakia intends to expand repair base for Ukrainian military equipment
Slovakia's Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár says his country plans to expand the repair base for Ukrainian military equipment in Michalovce
He said this during a meeting with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, reports Dennik N.
The diplomats discussed the war in Ukraine, migration and relations between the two countries.
Blanár said that Slovakia wants to expand the repair base for Ukrainian military equipment in Michalovce. Germany will finance the repair of the equipment, and Slovakia will provide the premises.
The repair shop, which is located in the Slovak army's military unit in Michalovce, began operating at the end of 2022. According to Blanár, despite the intention to expand the repair base, Slovakia will not continue to supply weapons to Kyiv.
Prime Minister Robert Fico’s government stopped military aid to Ukraine from state reserves last fall after taking office. However, according to Blanár, Bratislava will continue to supply humanitarian aid to Ukraine, which has been resisting Russian aggression for more than two years.
Slovakia also plans to take part in demining Ukraine.
- On October 7, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico assured Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal that his country was ready to supply Ukraine with emergency electricity in the winter if necessary.
