Netherlands plans €3.5 billion aid package for Ukraine in 2026
The Netherlands has started discussions about allocating around 3.5 billion euros to support Ukraine in 2026
NOS reported the information, according to European Pravda.
During parliamentary debates, Prime Minister Dick Schoof stated that around €3.5 billion is planned to support Ukraine in 2026, continuing the policy of previous years. Currently, the total amount of aid from the Netherlands amounts to approximately €5.8 billion.
The coalition hasn't reached a full agreement yet. Freedom Party leader Geert Wilders said his party would support the funding if steps were taken to lower food and utility costs for citizens.
The discussion on aid to Ukraine is linked to the upcoming spring memorandum negotiations within the coalition. The Freedom Party and the Farmer-Citizens' Movement insist that increased investments in security and defense should not come at the expense of consumers' purchasing power.
In this context, there is also talk of using frozen Russian assets.
