Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni pledged to do so at the NATO summit in Washington, D.C., reports Corriere della Sera.
It is noted that the Italian €1.7 billion will be a part of the €40 billion in NATO aid that the Alliance promises to Kyiv.
At the same time, in the first year of the full-scale war, Rome promised to provide Ukraine with about €1.2 million in military aid annually.
The report also says that NATO's €40 billion aid to Kyiv will include US contributions, with another €20 billion from EU member states.
- On July 9, it became known that Italy would extend the temporary protection of Ukrainians in view of the relevant decision of the Council of the European Union.
