
Italian business leaders offer to help rebuild cultural sites in Kyiv region
Representatives of Tuscany have expressed interest in participating in the restoration of cultural sites that were damaged or destroyed during the Russian occupation in the Kyiv region

Mykyta Herashchenko, Head of the Department of International Cooperation of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, held an online meeting with representatives of the construction business from the Italian region of Tuscany.
During the meeting, Mykyta Herashchenko spoke about the consequences of Russian aggression and the process of rebuilding both housing and public infrastructure in the Kyiv region, in which Ukraine's international partners are actively participating. The Italian side was most interested in cultural sites that were damaged or destroyed in the Kyiv region.
One of the most famous cultural sites destroyed by the invading Russian forces in the region is the museum of Ukrainian artist Maria Prymachenko in the village of Ivankiv. In total, 142 cultural sites and religious buildings have been destroyed or damaged in the Kyiv region as a result of Russian aggression, 77% of which have already been rebuilt.
"Italian partners expressed interest in participating in the restoration of cultural sites or building new ones from scratch. The participants of the online meeting agreed to continue the dialogue regarding further steps for possible cooperation in this direction," the Kyiv Regional Military Administration clarified.
- In total, as of April 3, 2025, 1,419 cultural heritage sites and 2,233 cultural infrastructure facilities have been damaged in Ukraine due to Russian military aggression.
