Germany to provide €70 million for Ukraine's energy sector reconstruction
The German Budget Committee has approved a €70 million winter aid package for Ukraine's heat and electricity supply
This was reported by the Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany.
Thanks to these funds, Ukrainian cities and municipalities will be provided with small thermal power plants, boilers, generators and solar panels.
“Russia seeks to exhaust and force out Ukrainians with its attacks on energy supply. Especially in winter, heat and electricity are vital for the people of Ukraine. Ukraine is fighting back, but it needs support to do so. Germany and many allies are standing firmly by its side. We are helping Ukraine to restore its decentralized energy supply, because then Russia will no longer be able to destroy it so easily. This support is an imperative of solidarity, but it is also in Germany's interest. Ultimately, Ukraine is also protecting our security in Europe and Germany in this war,” emphasized Federal Minister for Development Svenja Schulze.
Germany is confident that creating a decentralized and flexible energy supply through small combined heat and power plants, boilers, generators and solar systems is aimed at preventing the worst consequences in the affected cities and communities, especially as winter approaches.
It is noted that thanks to this assistance, community centers, hospitals, schools and other social facilities will receive more reliable and independent energy supply.
