Reuters reports.
According to the publication, Germany hopes that Ukraine will be able to meet most of its military needs with $50 billion in proceeds from the frozen assets of the Russian Federation, which the G7 countries agreed to allocate to Ukraine.
Despite the reduction of military aid to Ukraine, Germany will meet NATO's target of 2% of GDP defense spending in 2025, which will amount to €75.3 billion, the publication says.
It is noted that the budget for 2025 comes with the mid-term financial planning until 2028, the year when the armed forces' special fund to meet NATO's minimum spending goals is due to run out and 80 billion will be needed for defence.
- German Finance Minister Christian Lindner confirmed that the G7 countries had agreed to allocate $50 billion to Ukraine from the proceeds of frozen Russian assets.
