EU to provide additional €15 billion in aid to Ukraine
Several European Union member states have announced commitments to allocate up to €15 billion in additional aid to Ukraine
European Council President António Costa stated this during a press conference following the conclusion of the EU security summit, European Pravda reports.
According to Costa, since 2022, the EU has provided over €135 billion in support for Ukraine. He noted that EU countries have now committed to increasing their assistance.
“Member states can immediately increase their support thanks to expanded fiscal space. Several member states have already announced their commitments to allocate up to €15 billion,” Costa said.
He added that the European Council has also “tasked the EU Council with urgently working on further initiatives aimed at meeting Ukraine’s immediate military and defense needs.”
“At the same time, we are preparing to support Ukraine when it decides to begin negotiations, helping it achieve a positive outcome. This means a just and lasting peace,” Costa emphasized.
- The Norwegian Parliament has decided to increase support for Ukraine to 85 billion Norwegian kroner (nearly $8 billion) in 2025. The government sees this as a contribution to peace and stability in Europe.
