Czech Republic can send 1.5 million shells to Ukraine within year — PM Fiala
Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala says that the country can transfer 500,000 shells to Ukraine now and expects another 1 million rounds of ammunition within a year
This is reported by European Pravda.
"We believe that even more deliveries will follow. There is no reason why we can't deliver another million over the next 12 months," the prime minister said.
According to Fiala, this project is part of support for Ukraine.
"Our goal is to create a long-term supply system for ammunition for heavy weapons. This will directly help change the situation at the front," Fiala explained.
The Czech leader is convinced that Western countries must have sufficient defense industry capacity.
"We have to accept the fact that a more responsible security policy also includes a significant increase in the number of weapons. I believe that our initiative can simply cover the shortage of ammunition. At least until Europe is able to produce enough shells," he emphasized.
- Earlier, it was reported that about 20 countries that have already joined the Czech initiative to purchase ammunition for Ukraine, have pledged to provide funds for 500,000 artillery shells.
