Agreement not to strike Russia with Western weapons doesn't apply to occupied territories - Reznikov
Ukraine's Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov says that the agreement with the US to refrain from using Western weapons for strikes on Russian territory does not apply to temporarily Russian-occupied parts of Ukraine
Reznikov stated this in an interview with Voice of America.
"We have agreements with the US that we will not use the weapons provided to us by the US and partners on the territory of the Russian Federation. But if today we are talking about the deoccupation of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine where the enemy is located, then, accordingly, we don't have such restrictions", Reznikov said.
At the same time, he expressed hope that Ukraine will eventually receive ATACMS for the HIMARS multiple-launch rocket systems. ATACMS missiles are capable of hitting targets at a distance of 150-300 km.
"I hope that a political decision will be made regarding ATACMS missiles, which will bring a lot of positives on the battlefield for Ukraine and the entire civilized world, as HIMARS have already changed the picture of the battle so much", Reznikov noted.
