Russian army loses 6,000 soldiers in month of fighting in Kursk region - Zelenskyy
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says that the Ukrainian troops are advancing in the Kursk region, and the Russian army has lost 6,000 soldiers in a month of fighting
He said this at a briefing before the meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense.
"Ukraine now controls over 1,300 square kilometers of Russian territory. From this territory of the Kursk region, Russian troops simply fled. They fled as soon as they saw that the Ukrainian Armed Forces were conducting an offensive. A large part of the Kursk region came under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. During the first month of fighting in the Kursk region, the Russian army lost over 6,000 soldiers in killed and wounded. The Russian army lost another 10,000 soldiers in battles in other parts of the front," Zelenskyy said.
The president said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces keep advancing in the Kursk region.
"We know that Russia is preparing to launch a new offensive. They are always preparing for this. We saw it in May this year when Putin tried to attack Kharkiv again. Putin is not waging war to protect his own security interests. We continue to advance in the Kursk region. Russia continues its offensive on the territory of our country. They continue to occupy our territories in the Donetsk region. This is a clear choice that was made in Moscow. Putin wants to continue to occupy the territory of Ukraine," he added.
