When will negotiation framework on Ukraine's accession to EU be presented: official tells
Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna saya that Ukraine expects the presentation of the negotiation framework for EU accession no later than March 12
She said this during a conversation on the sidelines of the international platform Restoring the Rights of Victims of Conflict-Related Sexual Violence: An Element of Peace and World Defeat, Liga.net reports.
"No later than March 12, we expect the European Commission to present a negotiation framework and assess the progress in reforms so that EU countries can make a decision on March 19," Stefanishyna said.
The Vice Prime Minister hopes that there will be no delays. She also noted that there are cases when internal problems in the parliament result in appeals to the European Commission.
"This is a very sad practice, and I still don't know what impact it will have. I hope that when we say that in our strategic issues we are a team Ukraine, it will remain so even when we have difficult processes in our country," she added.
Stefanishyna emphasized that on February 24, Ukraine had a clear plan of action, but "it is difficult to predict whether it will be implemented in view of the recent events.”
Agreeing on a negotiation framework is one of the steps to be taken to start negotiations on accession to the bloc.
- On February 21, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that the negotiation framework for Ukraine's accession to the EU would be ready in early summer, after the European elections.
