Ukraine's EU membership may be most debated with Poland - MP Kniazhytskyi
People's Deputy Mykola Kniazhytskyi said that Poland fears that Ukrainian products will fill European markets, which may cause problems with the Polish authorities in supporting Ukraine's accession to the EU
He told about this on the Espreso TV channel.
"Oddly enough, the biggest debate about Ukraine's membership in the EU may be with Poland. We can turn this debate with the Poles both in favor of our cooperation and to the detriment of our relations. Because the structure of our economies is very similar and the Poles are very worried that Ukraine may take over European markets where Polish products are present," explained Kniazhytskyi.
The MP noted that the Polish authorities hope that the protests at the border will subside on their own.
"The Polish authorities want to distance themselves from these protests as much as possible. After all, they will have local elections in April and they hope that these protests will subside by themselves. On the one hand, the Polish authorities support Ukraine, but on the other hand, they turn a blind eye to this hysteria that is happening on our borders," he added.
- Starting February 20, Polish farmers promise to block all border crossings with Ukraine for a month. At the same time, Ukrainian carriers held their own protest in response to the actions of Polish farmers.
- The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine stated that it had not received any information from the Polish side regarding a complete blockade of the border.
