The advisor to the mayor of Mariupol, Petro Andriushchenko, reported this.
The explosions occurred between 3:55 pm and 4:30 pm. Immediately afterwards, mobile communication was lost in the Kalmius district. Smoke rose over the plant in the direction of Kamianske – Staryi Krym and disappeared in about 20 minutes.
A helicopter took off in one of the districts of Illich Steel and Iron Works and small arms fire began. The number of Russian troops sharply increased on Metalurhiv and Nikopolskyi avenues.
“Russian social media groups reported that air defense systems were triggered and that "planes were breaking the sound barrier," but within 10 minutes all messages were deleted and city chats were globally cleared. Given the potential impact zone on the territory of Illich Steel and Iron Works, we will have details of what the occupying forces lost there, but not soon. Although the fact itself is a good gift to Mariupol on the Day of the National Anthem,” Andriushchenko added.
On March 9, Mayor Vadym Boichenko said that Russian troops had regrouped and moved their logistics centers outside Mariupol after the explosions.
