32 soldiers return to Ukraine in POW exchange
32 Ukrainian soldiers have been released from Russian captivity, and the body of Israeli citizen Dmytro Fialka has also been returned
This was announced by the head of the President's Office, Andrii Yermak.
Among those released from captivity are officers, sergeants and soldiers with Ukraine's Armed Forces. All of them were in places where fierce fighting was going on. Many of them were considered missing.
As the Coordination Headquarters for the treatment of prisoners of war added, three of those released were officers, 28 were soldiers, and one was a sailor. The defenders released from captivity belong, in particular, to the 72nd, 24th and 58th Detached Mechanized Brigades, the 26th Detached Artillery Brigade, the 36th Detached Marine Brigade, the 10th Detached Mountain Assault Brigade, and the 109th Detached Mountain Assault Battalion. The youngest of the released soldiers is 22 years old, and the oldest is 51 years old.
According to Yermak, the discharged servicemen are undergoing a medical examination, will recover, and will see their relatives.
"Today we released a private who served with his older brother. The brother died in front of his eyes, and the younger brother was captured on the same day. The older brother is survived by his wife and two daughters," Yermak wrote.
The deceased Israeli, Dmytro Fialka, lived in Ukraine for the past two years and worked as a children's football coach in the Dynamo club (Lviv). He fought for Ukraine, and it was here that he met his love - a girl with whom they had children. He went to the front as a volunteer.
