3 ports to open for Ukrainian grain exports, vessels will be inspected to "pacify" Russia
Three Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea will resume Ukrainian grain exports. Before entering, empty ships will be searched by Turkish military personnel
This will be done in order to assure Russia that there are no weapons for Ukraine in the ship's holds. These details of the negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation in Istanbul were reported by The Wall Street Journal.
The publication notes that Russian troops must provide access to 3 Black Sea ports and guarantee that grain ships will not be attacked. It is not specified what these 3 ports of the Black Sea are.
According to WSJ interlocutors, the agreements provide for the export of grain by convoys of ships accompanied by Ukrainian vessels, with a guarantee of a cease-fire within defined geographical boundaries and "some operations" for demining.
All empty vessels arriving at Ukrainian ports will undergo a thorough inspection by a "third party", namely representatives of the Turkish Navy.
This will be done in order to "eliminate Russia's concern" regarding the possible delivery of Western weapons to Ukraine by these ships (previously, the Russian side insisted on conducting this inspection independently).
