10 ships carrying grain prepare to leave Ukrainian ports - Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister
17 ships have already been loaded with grain in the seaports of Odesa and Chornomorsk, 10 of them are ready to set sail.
This was announced by the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Oleksandr Kubrakov.
He noted that for the first time since February 24, the work has been resumed in the seaports of Ukraine.
"The ships, which were loaded with grain during the winter, are ready to leave as soon as our partners, the UN and Turkey, agree on a "green corridor" in the direction of the Bosphorus. I am grateful to the ambassadors of the G7, the European Delegation, Turkey, as well as the UN for their joint work, which, I hope, will bring the first practical results in the coming days. Your presence today in Odesa gives hope to Ukrainian farmers, port workers, as well as the entire maritime industry", Oleksandr Kubrakov wrote.
As of now, 17 vessels have already been loaded in the ports of Odesa and Chornomorsk. 10 of them are ready for departure.
"The export of grain will begin with the dispatch of ships that could not leave the port due to the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine. We expect to promptly export more than 20 million tons of grain from last year's harvest and start exporting the new one. Opening up the ports will give the Ukrainian economy almost a billion dollars of foreign exchange revenue every month. This will help to stabilize the hryvnia and improve the country's economic situation", Oleksandr Kubrakov wrote.
The minister added that the ministry works in round-the-clock coordination with the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
"We continue to work on expanding the capacity of railways, highways, as well as border checkpoints. In particular, plans for the development of the Danube port cluster were discussed in detail at a meeting at the Administration of Seaports of Ukraine", Oleksandr Kubrakov emphasized.
